The Sioux City Skateboard Association was adopted in 2001 when a demand for a place for skateboarders to go was evident to the city of Sioux City. We raised money to build the Cook Street Skatepark. Since then, we have organized skateboard contests, cancer benefit fundraisers, and demos at the Cook Street Skatepark.
The City is moving forward with plans to build a fence around the Cook Street Skatepark using funds that we worked so hard to raise. We the association, it's members, and local skateboarders appreciate all of you that signed the "No fence around the Cook Street Skatepark Petition". We would like to invite you to a discussion that is being held by the city to further the process along of putting a fence around the skatepark.
We believe strongly that a fence around the skatepark will take away from the freedom that the skatepark lends the community and will deter us from holding any future contests and fundraisers that have proven to be positive events for Siouxland. We strongly appreciate your support on this unfortunate fence plan.

They put a fence around Peter Pan park in Lincoln. It did nothing for the park besides cost a lot of money.
